Soffle’s secures funds to feed product development

All–natural ingredients snack brand secures £40,000 for product development

London-based savoury snack brand, Soffles, has secured funding for product development, following the addition of new supermarket listings.

Soffle’s, the oven roasted pitta chips manufacturer, was set up in 2013 by Sophie Harvey at her London home, where she made the snacks during her first two years in business. Its snacks are inspired by the Middle East, and it currently offers four different flavours, including chilli and garlic, spring onion and parmesan cheese, and rosemary and thyme.

The £40,000 facility, provided by Positive Cashflow Finance, an invoice finance provider and part of the 1pm plc group of specialist finance companies, has enabled the business to continue to develop the product, with the intention of adding new flavours to its repertoire.

Soffle’s currently supplies a number of bars, restaurants and specialist food suppliers as well as securing listings in Waitrose and Holland & Barrett. The snacks were initially made as nibbles for small events at the art gallery Sophie Harvey worked at, before she left to grow the business and make it her full-time job.

Sophie said, “We’re thrilled to have secured this funding. It will allow us to experiment with new flavours and develop the product further, in light of securing new national store listings.

“The fast turnaround in funding also means there was no disruption to the existing supply process, and we can fulfil orders faster than ever before. This funding will allow us to establish ourselves on the shelves and in the sharing bowls of the nation, and achieve our aim of bringing our pitta chips to even more people.”

David Smith, of Positive Cashflow, said: “Soffle’s is a fantastic success story of a simple snack and a passion which was turned into a full-time vocation and business. When orders are piling up and larger listings are secured, it can often take the focus away from product development and innovation.

“This funding should go some way to helping Soffle’s fulfil their new larger orders and grow its product range, reaching the corners of the UK from its London base. Invoice financing can take the stress out of growing and upscaling a business.”
